Since 2019, Da Nang Port has accelerated the use of digital technology to enhance its operations. The focus has been on creating a paperless office using digital transformation in order to reduce costs and make the port’s operation more productive, as well as improve customer satisfaction.

Da Nang Port General Director Tran Le Tuan said priority has been given to accelerating digital transformation efforts by buiding a modern server room, upgrading the existing fiber optic network in a bid to offer much faster internet speeds over port terminals, container yards and warehouses.  In addition, the importance has been attached to installing industrial wireless network along with surveillance and security cameras across the port.

In addition, last year saw Da Nang Port put the Container Operation Center into operation featuring an electronic port system and an automatic container system in an effort to reduce waiting times and costs for customers.

In April, 2020, Da Nang Port began to use CATOS (Computer Automated Terminal Operation System), an integrated terminal management solution, which was provided by Total Soft Bank Ltd, a South Korea-based company engaged in the provision of software used in maritime industry. The intention was to maximise container terminal productivity, and gain greater efficiency, enhance service quality, and increase profitability.

Most notably, in late 2020, Da Nang Port became the first e-port in central Viet Nam by covering computerisation of all its customer interface and internal back office processes.

Accordingly, electronic delivery orders, electronic customs clearance, electronic invoices, and non-cash payments have been adopted in Da Nang Port in a bid to enable customers to make contactless transactions in times of COVID-19.

Da Nang Port has also used such advanced technologies as using robots in an effort to improve productivity, increase the efficiency, and minimise human errors in operations. In addition, the port’s container truck gates have already equipped with modern automated technology in order to help it provide the best customer experience.

Da Nang Port has taken initiative to promote digital transformation, and make its business paperless in light of COVID-19. As a result, the Port staff have become more familiar with online tools in a paperless office in times of COVID-19.

General Director Tuan said “Da Nang Port is known for being one of Viet Nam’s integrated logistics companies, and a major hub in central Viet Nam. Therefore, we acknowledge Da Nang Port plays a pivotal role in implementing renewal initiatives, and driving the growth of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole”.

Facing the challenges and seizing the opportunities brought by digitalisation, Da Nang is making great efforts to drive its innovations and creativity, get benefit by the technological achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in a bid to increase efficiency to maximise its profit, provide better services for customers, and  improve customer satisfaction.
