The functional agencies have worked closely with the district authorities and authorities of industrial parks (IPs) in Da Nang to continue their efforts to monitor COVID-19 preventative measures which are being put in place at businesses operating in local IPs. This came as dozens of people with confirmed COVID-19 had been reported in the An Don IP in Son Tra District.

Raising awareness of the measures to control the spread of the virus among local businesses

We observed on May 13 that Sinaran Vietnam Company based in the An Don IP has already closed its facility No.2 where a positive case had been detected and is working for. This infected woman is being placed under isolation and receiving treatment in hospital. The company has also identified 56 contacts of this positive case and sent its report about her close contacts to local health officials. In addition, the company is working closely with relevant agencies to take drastic action in a bid to provide a safe and secure workplace for its staff.

In its efforts to ensure the ultimate safety of nearly2,000 employees, Huu Nghi Production Trading Joint Stock Company is tightening up the 5K recommendations of the Vietnamese Health Ministry, namely khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration).

The company’s Deputy Director General Bui Phuoc My said the company planned to resume normal operations on May 14. The company will pay special attention to adhering to strict preventive measures, and regularly conduct disinfectant sprays for the prevention of COVID-19 inside and outside production facilities, canteen, parking areas and other areas.

In a similar vein, Trung Khoa Company based in the An Don IP has made shift work arrangements in which office workers are assigned to work in shift, and they are allowed to arrive in different times. In addition, the company has also arranged seating at work for its office workers to maintain a physical distance of 2 meters between them in order to ensure workplace seating is safe. Moreover, disinfectant sprays for the prevention of COVID-19 are being carried out in the company's production facility at the end of each shift. Visitor access to the company is limited, and the company is encouraging its customers to make online transactions due to COVID-19.

Mr Bui Duc Loi, the Deputy Head of the Hoa Cam IP Investment Joint Stock Company which is in charge of managing the Hoa Cam IP in Cam Le District, unveiled that tests on 3 close contacts of a positive case, who were reported in Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Ltd., had come back negative for the virus once. The company is closely monitoring the health of indirect contacts of infected patients who are self-isolating at home, and it will immediately report to the Authority of the Hoa Cam IP if any one develops COVID-19 symptoms.

Increasing checks and supervision of preventative measures at all businesses operating in IPS

The Hoa Khanh and Expanded Hoa Khanh IPs located in Lien Chieu District are home to hundreds of companies with a combined total of thousands of employees.

Lien Chieu District People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Dang Huy said that the local authorities have quickly traced all contacts of positive cases over recent times after these cases were reported in the An Don IP. Their close contacts have been already placed under quarantine in designated facilities while  indirect contacts of confirmed cases have been asked to self-isolate at home in accordance with infection control guidelines and recommendations issued by Vietnamese Ministry of Health.

At the same time, the Lien Chieu District authorities have urged all companies operating in the Hoa Khanh and Expanded Hoa Khanh IPs to tighten measures to control COVID-19 at workplace.

Cam Le District People’s Committee Chairman Le Ho Van Khoa said a specialised team of officials has been established to pay site visits to most of companies operating in the district-based IPs to check their health measures amid COVID-19 concerns. All of these companies are urged by local authorities to stay compliant with the city’s COVID-19 rules.

As scheduled, medical workers took a combined throat and nose swab of over 2,000 workers in the Da Nang Seafood Services IP in Son Tra District to test for the virus on May 13 and May 14. This came as some positive cases linked to the Da Nang branch of the Truong Minh Service and Production Company had identified.

The Authority of Hoa Khanh IP in Lien Chieu District and the Da Nang Seafood Services IP in Son Tra District in Son Tra District has asked all businesses operating in the two IPs to make their own preparedness and response plans for possible suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the workplace in addition to taking drastic action to prevent the spread of the virus.

Between May 11 and May 19, the Authority of the Hi-tech Park and IPs in Da Nang is conducting site visits to companies operating in local IPs to check their infection preventation and control measures in the workplace in a bid to make sure that all of them are fully comply with the city’s COVID-19 rules and regulations with the aim of fulfilling their ‘ dual goals’ of tackling the pandemic and keeping their production stable.
