Participating in the meeting was Mrs. Do Thi Quynh Tram – Deputy Director and leaders of divisions of IPA Da Nang. From KOTRA Da Nang side, there was Mr. Kim Jinmo – Deputy Director and Mrs. Dinh Thuy Trang – Manager.
At the reception, Mrs. Huynh Lien Phuong had high opinion of the cooperation between IPA Da Nang and KOTRA Da Nang over the past time. Established in 2019, KOTRA Da Nang has gradually become a trustworthy and valued partner of IPA Da Nang in various investment promotion activities to call for Korean investment flows into Da Nang City. She also noted that Korea was among the key target markets for FDI of Da Nang City. As of October 2021, Korean investors ranked 5th in terms of registered investment capital in Da Nang with 231 projects valued at more than 377 million USD. Some typical projects to be mentioned included LG VS R&D Center (LG Electronics), ICT Vina medical device manufacturing plant at Da Nang Hi-tech Park, etc. Mrs. Phuong proposed KOTRA Da Nang to encourage Korean investors to invest in Da Nang, especially in strategic sectors, such as infrastructure (expanding Da Nang International Airport, Lien Chieu Port, etc), education and training, hi-technology, ICT, etc.
For his part, Mr. Kim WoonTae expressed his gratitude for the warming welcome at IPA Da Nang. He informed that Korean investors saw Viet Nam as a promising investment destination and many Korean companies planned to invest in Viet Nam. However, Central region had very low share of Korean investments, occupying only 04% of the total investment capital in Viet Nam and had great potential for more exploration. Given its strategic location and highly-skilled workforce, Da Nang possessed outstanding advantages in attracting Korean investors. He hoped the cooperation between IPA Da Nang and KOTRA Da Nang would grow stronger in the coming time, contributing to the development of Korea – Viet Nam in general and Korea – Da Nang in particular. On this occasion, Mr. Kim also proposed the city to continue to work on its one-stop shop service to improve city’s investment climate.
Mrs. Huynh Lien Phuong took note of Mr. Kim’s proposal and hoped the newly-appointed Director General of KOTRA Da Nang to continue sharing his experience and closely work with IPA Da Nang to provide better one stop shop service quality to Korean investors. She pledged that IPA Da Nang would make efforts to facilitate Korean investments in the city.

In November 2021, Korea – Da Nang ICT Investment Forum will be held by Da Nang People’s Committee and Ministry of Information and Telecommunications. This is an opportunity for Da Nang City to showcase its investment climate and projects in ICT sector to potential Korean investors and to enhance the cooperation between Da Nang’s and Korean ICT enterprises. The event also aims to celebrate the 29th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Korea (22/12/1992 – 22/12/2021). Arcordingly, IPA Da Nang and KOTRA Da Nang will work closely to hold the forum successfully. |
